Cedille Artists Help Shape the Future of Chamber Music

When Chamber Music America holds its National Conference in Chicago this August, the country’s leading musicians, presenters, educators, and arts administrators will gather to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore the future of chamber music. We’re especially proud that so many members of the Cedille family have been invited to lend their expertise — not only as performers, but also as thought leaders helping to shape the conversation.

Cedille President Jim Ginsburg will join a panel discussing the rapidly evolving world of recording and technology, alongside Grammy-winning (frequent Cedille) producer Judith Sherman and other industry leaders. Throughout the conference, Cedille artists and collaborators including Rachel Barton Pine, Augusta Read Thomas, Shawn E. Okpebholo, Third Coast Percussion, Civitas Ensemble, and Eighth Blackbird (among many others) will share their artistry and experience through performances, presentations, and panel discussions.

It’s gratifying to see so many artists from the Cedille community recognized not only for their musical excellence, but for the leadership they bring to the national conversation. Their participation reflects the creativity, innovation, and collaborative spirit that define Chicago’s vibrant classical music community — and reminds us that Cedille’s impact extends far beyond the recordings we produce. Thanks to your support, Chicago’s artists continue to inspire audiences, influence their peers, and help shape the future of classical music.

Cedille’s newest digital single, Mischa Zupko: Harpsichord Concerto is available to stream everywhere. Scored for harpsichord and string quartet, the concerto exhibits highly idiomatic harpsichord writing, brought brilliantly into the present by Zupko’s ingenious reshaping of older musical styles into a thoroughly modern expression.

From Chicago-based composter Stacy Garrop comes INVICTUS, Latin for “unconquered.” The work unfolds across four movements and an interlude, moving between lyrical introspection, fierce determination, and triumphant resolve, with Grammy-nominated pianist Marta Aznavoorian and the Chicago Philharmonic under the direction of Artistic Director Scott Speck. Available 5/8.

Monthly Playlist

In honor of the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we repromote our playlist of Cedille recordings of music by (almost all) American composers based on American themes — people, places, events, etc. — and add a few recent tracks that fit the theme (and bring the total to 50).
