From Recording to Recital: Ian Koziara’s Cedille Debut Opens International Doors
Tenor Ian Koziara, a rising artist on the international stage, credits his debut album on Cedille Records, Silenced ― Unsung Voices of the 20th Century (released August 2024), with opening doors at a pivotal moment in his career. A frequent presence on leading opera stages, Ian has quickly built a reputation for his stentorian, expressive voice and thoughtful musicianship. His Cedille recording — which brings attention to powerful vocal works by mid-century composers whose lives were destroyed by antisemitism and the Holocaust — has not only resonated deeply with listeners, it has also distinguished him as a compelling interpreter of this important repertoire.
In a recent communication with Cedille artist, soprano and composer Patrice Michaels, Ian shared that the album played a major role in securing his first professional recital at Barcelona’s renowned Palau de la Música. For this milestone performance, he will revisit music from Silenced, with nearly half of the program drawn directly from the recording, performed with pianist Bradley Moore, his collaborator on the album. It’s a meaningful continuation of the project’s mission: ensuring that these overlooked works are heard, not only on the recording, but also on the world’s most respected stages.
Ian expressed his gratitude for Cedille’s role in his journey. “A major element of getting that gig was the CD with Cedille,” he wrote, noting how impactful the label’s support has been. “How grateful I am to have Cedille in my corner.” That partnership has not only elevated his own career, but also amplified composers whose voices and stories deserve to be remembered and shared.
This is the kind of lasting impact Cedille strives for — supporting artists in ways that extend far beyond the recording studio and helping meaningful music reach new audiences around the world.

Cedille’s newest digital single, Mischa Zupko: Harpsichord Concerto is available to stream everywhere. Scored for harpsichord and string quartet, the concerto exhibits highly idiomatic harpsichord writing, brought brilliantly into the present by Zupko’s ingenious reshaping of older musical styles into a thoroughly modern expression.
From Chicago-based composter Stacy Garrop comes INVICTUS, Latin for “unconquered.” The work unfolds across four movements and an interlude, moving between lyrical introspection, fierce determination, and triumphant resolve, with Grammy-nominated pianist Marta Aznavoorian and the Chicago Philharmonic under the direction of Artistic Director Scott Speck. Available 5/8.
