Tune in online on February 1st for the Grammy Awards pre-telecast ceremony

Cedille Records is proud to celebrate another exciting moment for our artists on the national stage: three Grammy nominations for recent albums! This year’s nominated recordings reflect the bold artistry and collaborative spirit that define Cedille’s mission. Songs in Flight by composer Shawn Okpebholo is nominated for Best Contemporary Classical Composition, while Third Coast Percussion’s Standard Stoppages earned two nominations: for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance and Best Engineered Album, Classical (for engineers Bill Maylone and Judith Sherman, the members of TCP, and mastering engineer Joe Lambert).

For the artists, these nominations represent more than trophies or headlines. Grammy recognition offers powerful industry validation, opening doors, expanding audiences, and affirming that the work these Chicago musicians create resonates far beyond our region. Cedille’s role is to help bring these voices to the world — and moments like this confirm how essential that work is.

The classical categories will be announced during the Grammy Awards pre-telecast ceremony on February 1, which is livestreamed online. You can tune in by visiting GRAMMY.com or watching on the Recording Academy’s official YouTube channel. We hope you’ll join us in cheering on these remarkable Chicago artists — and in celebrating the impact your support makes possible every step of the way.

These nominations add to a remarkable legacy. Since 2003, Cedille has received 38 Grammy nominations and won 8 awards — an extraordinary level of success for a Chicago-focused nonprofit record label. In a field dominated by major international labels, Cedille’s track record speaks volumes about the quality, originality, and impact of the artists we are privileged to record. By any measure, this is a tremendous rate of recognition for an organization rooted so intentionally in one city’s musical community. And it’s recognition Cedille Records couldn’t achieve without the support of the donors who sustain our work. Thank you! And keep your fingers crossed on February 1st.

A prominent figure of the Neapolitan School of opera, whose work influenced composers such as Johann Adolph Hasse and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Vinci’s three-act opera seria centers on the Persian prince, Artaserse, who must bring his father’s murderer to justice amidst betrayal, deceit, and mistaken identity.

Monthly Playlist

In anticipation of the June 12 digital single release of Mischa Zupko:Harpsichord Concertothis month’s playlist features that very instrument and its many personalities. There’s delicacy in Lully’s Passacaille contrasted by Soler’s muscular Keyboard Sonata No. 81 in G Minor. Appearing both accompanied and unaccompanied, the harpsichord takes center stage this month.
