A Voice for Vocal Music: New Releases Supported by the RBG Fund
Cedille Records established the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Fund for Vocal Recordings in fall 2022 to celebrate the late Supreme Court Justice’s (and mother of Cedille founder and President, James Ginsburg) profound love of vocal music and to ensure that new and historic vocal works continue to reach audiences through recording.
Your support today helps the Fund continue to grow and sustain such projects. By contributing to the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Fund, you help Cedille preserve extraordinary vocal performances, commission new works, and share them with listeners everywhere — all in honor of Justice Ginsburg, whose lifelong passion for vocal music continues to inspire.
In under four years, the Fund has already made a meaningful impact, supporting nine (and counting) Cedille releases that preserve and share exceptional vocal artistry. Each project made possible by the Fund reflects Justice Ginsburg’s belief in the power of music — and especially the human voice — to inspire, illuminate, and connect people. In honor of her recent birthday anniversary (March 15), we invite you to donate to the Fund again today.
In March 2026, the Fund supported two important additions to Cedille’s catalog. First, a new digital single (released March 6) titled, On the Joys of Recorded Music. With music by Chicago composer Patrice Michaels, this song adapts the text of a 1999 letter written to Cedille President James Ginsburg by U.S. Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter. Justice Souter was famously cautious about releasing his writings publicly, making this musical setting especially notable. Through Michaels’ evocative music, listeners gain a glimpse into his heartfelt and amusing reflections on the meaning and value of recorded music.
A week later (March 13), Cedille released its recording of Italian Baroque master Leonardo Vinci’s (1690–1730) final opera, Artaserse, featuring an all-star vocal cast and the extraordinary musicians of Haymarket Opera Company, whose mission is to bring early opera to life with historical insight and vibrant performances. This album documents a thrilling production and ensures that audiences far beyond the theater can experience the beauty and drama of this rarely heard work.
With your help, the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Fund will continue to support recordings that celebrate the expressive power of the voice and bring important vocal works to audiences around the world. We invite you to join us in sustaining this growing legacy — and in honoring Justice Ginsburg by supporting the kind of music she loved so deeply. Thank you!

Haymarket Opera Company presents early-18th-century master Leonardo Vinci’s rare operatic gem, Artaserse (1730). A prominent figure of the Neapolitan School of opera, whose work influenced composers such as Johann Adolph Hasse and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Vinci’s three-act opera seria centers on the Persian prince, Artaserse, who must bring his father’s murderer to justice amidst betrayal, deceit, and mistaken identity.
