A Decade of New Sounds: ~Nois Saxophone Quartet Records 10th Anniversary Album

Cedille Records is thrilled to share an early look at a special project on the horizon: a 2027 release celebrating the ~Nois Saxophone Quartet’s 10th anniversary. This upcoming album will mark an important milestone — not just for the ensemble, but for the ever-evolving future of chamber music.

~Nois is young, energetic, and deeply committed to new music. From the beginning, the quartet has focused on commissioning, premiering, and sharing works by living composers, helping to expand the saxophone quartet repertoire while amplifying a wide range of contemporary voices. Their curiosity and collaborative spirit shine through in everything they do, inviting listeners into music that feels fresh, relevant, and very much of the moment.

The ensemble just completed recording the album last week at Chicago’s iconic Electrical Audio studios, located in the Avondale neighborhood. While most Cedille chamber ensembles and soloists record in the city’s concert halls, the sound world and kinetic energy that ~Nois brings to this project warranted a different approach. Electrical Audio — legendary for its warmth, character, and no-nonsense dedication to great sound — has welcomed countless notable musicians through its doors, making it a fitting home for this bold and contemporary recording.

Cedille’s planned 2027 release will celebrate a decade of artistic growth and fearless exploration by an ensemble that continues to push boundaries and build meaningful connections with composers and audiences alike. We’re grateful to our donors — especially Lori Julian for the Julian Family Foundation, Eileen and David Zampa, and Bruce Oltman in this case — for making projects like this possible. Your support allows Cedille to invest in innovative artists, champion new music, and document milestones that deserve to be heard — now and for years to come.
