New Single Release: Derivative

A composition by Jlin performed by Grammy Award-winning ensemble Third Coast Percussion

Composer Jlin. Image from Planet Mu

Initially associated with Chicago’s footwork scene, Jlin’s music has evolved far beyond that style, exploring unheard rhythms and placing her in a category of her own. “Derivative” is one of a set of seven pieces (entitled “Perspective”) to be performed live by GRAMMY® Award-winning ensemble Third Coast Percussion. The performers brought together a motley collection of percussion instruments and other objects, including bowls of water, mechanical spring coils, and childrens’ squeaky toys to bring the composer’s extraordinary electronic sound palette into the physical realm.

Jlin’s Derivative releases March 18!

Difficult Grace, based on Grammy Award-nominated cellist Seth Parker Woods’ multimedia concert tour de force, conceived by and featuring Woods in the triple role of cellist, narrator/guide, and movement artist, is Woods’ debut album for Cedille Records.
