Karisa Chiu Wins Gold Medal in International Violin Competition of Indianapolis
Cedille artist Karisa Chiu was awarded the Gold Medal at the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis after perfroming Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D major with the Indianapolis Symphony. The first-place prize includes a $75,000 cash reward, a recital at Carnegie Hall, and a recording contract. Chiu, a finalist in the 2021 Emerging Artist Competition released her debut record, HOME on Cedille in 2025. In addition to the Gold Medal, Chiu was also awarded several special prizes, including Best Performance of a Classical Concerto, Best Performance of a Violin-Piano Sonata other than Beethoven, Best Performance of a Beethoven Sonata, Best Performance of the Rhapsody No. 3 by Jessie Montgomery, Best Performance of an Encore Piece, and Best Performance of a Kreisler Encore.
