By sponsoring a recording, you help create music too
Your support allows Cedille to record, produce, and promote the work of Chicago artists. The impact is measurable: more than 200 recordings are part of the world’s catalog of music because of our collective efforts, and the careers of nearly 200 musicians have been bolstered by the process.
Cellist Brandon Vamos of the Pacifica Quartet says:
A recording…shows a piece of time. And it captures what musicians are doing now, and what repertoire is important. And I think also recording, for us, shapes the way we think about that music. It makes you think about the music in a certain way that you might not, if you’re just going to get up and play it once here. It has a sense of purpose. You think about your legacy when you make a recording. You hope that somebody will listen to this in 50 years and say, “What a great recording.”
There are several ways you can support Cedille’s efforts. In particular, you can have a lasting impact by sponsoring a recording. Among the eight to nine physical albums we release each year, at least one is the Cedille debut album for the artist, and the majority contain the work of living American composers. Your sponsorship furthers these performing musicians’ careers and shares compositions by living composers.
Our catalog includes the world-premiere recordings of more than 400 works. By sponsoring a recording, you can be the reason that an important new piece is recorded, and therefore heard.
We anticipate that the demand for our services will only continue to grow. With your support, now and in the future, we can meet this need.
