Today Cedille is excited to announce GRAMMY nominations for three fantastic Chicago classical albums:

Usulula Oppens, Best Classical Instrumental Solo for The People United Will Never Be Defeated! (Judith Sherman, Producer)
New Budapest Orpheum Society, Best Classical Compendium for As Dreams Fall Apart – The Golden Age Of Jewish Stage And Film Music (1925-1955) (James Ginsburg, producer)
Judith Sherman was also nominated for Classical Producer of the Year, her work on Turina: Chamber Music for Strings and Piano (Lincoln Trio) and The People United Will Never Be Defeated! (Ursula Oppens, Jerome Lowenthal) are mentioned in her nomination. We are incredibly proud to have had the opportunity to collaborate with such wonderful Chicago Classical musicians and wish them the best of luck at the 2016 Grammys!

Grammy Award-winning violinist Jennifer Koh’s 16th album on Cedille Records, The American Concerto, Volume One, features Vijay Iyer’s Trouble and the world premiere recording of Courtney Bryan’s Syzygy, performed with the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble conducted by Tim Weiss.
Cedille’s newest digital single, Mischa Zupko: Harpsichord Concerto is available to stream everywhere. Scored for harpsichord and string quartet, the concerto exhibits highly idiomatic harpsichord writing, brought brilliantly into the present by Zupko’s ingenious reshaping of older musical styles into a thoroughly modern expression.
With the new month comes a new featured playlist on Spotify — or, in this case, a refresh of our Artist Debuts on Cedille playlist, originally created in 2022 to celebrate the inaugural album by the first Emerging Artist Competition winner, saxophonist Julian Velasco.
The update is to celebrate oboist Oliver Talukder, winner of Cedille’s second competition, as well as other artists who have made their Cedille debus since 2022. (Oliver’s track will be added on Friday when his album, Briefly Gorgeous, is released.)
